Notes for using A/V setup in living room: - Everything is plugged into power strip at left of bottom TV stand shelf Enable system by turning on power strip; turn strip off when closing up house - Sound is always through Onkyo stereo and external speakers For stereo power and volume control, use Onkyo remote or stereo front panel - For TV power, use dedicated TV power button on either Onkyo remote or Sony Blu-ray remote Other than power (and adjusting TV display settings), shouldn't need to do anything else on TV itself - Select stereo/TV input source using Onkyo remote or stereo front panel: "DVD" for Sony Blu-ray player (for Blu-ray, DVD, CD, USB drive via front port on player) "VCR/DVR" for combo VCR & DVD recorder "CBL/SAT" for spare HDMI input cable, coiled up on top of stereo itself - For "VCR/DVR" & "CBL/SAT", TV must be on to get sound (due to tech limitations of stereo) With "DVD", sound works regardless of TV on/off, e.g. TV can be off when playing music - An ethernet cable is available to left of the TV stand, for streaming devices E.g. we've temporarily connected a Roku via ethernet & the spare HDMI input, and that works well - Can potentially add additional HDMI sources via TV itself, but that gets a little more complicated Can deal with this down the road if need arises... feel free to ask if curious
